Invercargill City Council: service assets

BCL worked with the Invercargill City Council (ICC) from November 2004 to late 2011. BCL had a previous contract with Invercargill City Council prior to this for nine years. The most recent contract had a value of approximately $2.7 million per annum, plus mutually agreed upon additional work.

The contract included maintenance of ICC’s extensive service assets, including (but not limited to):

  • Piped Reticulation (Water, Sewer, and Stormwater)
  • Pumping Stations
  • Reservoirs
  • Treatment Facilities

BCL provided efficient and cost-effective inspection and monitoring of the services assets, remedial and installation work, programmed and preventative works and emergency response.

BCL were on time, and to budget. Both BCLs mainstream maintenance work and the agreed upon planned works were performed within budget. BCLs experience, local knowledge, processes and resource levels ensured specified response times and project deadlines were met. Subcontractors and suppliers involved in aspects of this delivery were; SouthRoads for trench reinstatement, NES for Mechanical and Electrical Services and Mico Pipelines for material supply. BCL, as Principal Contractor, took responsibility and applied effective subcontractor management techniques to achieve the outcomes required within the agreed programme and budgets.

Senior staff from our previous ICC maintenance contract are Paul du Mez and Karen McRae on the management/administration side and Steven Bragg and Leon Hopa on delivery. Notable field staff who were previously involved are Alex Bowmar and Nigel Renton.
